SANTHWANAM activities begin when a compassionate individual decide to voluntarily
contribute the possible subscription to a member or executive member of SANTHWANAM
who collects subscription from a a group of members and takes it to the monthly
executive committee meeting along with a set of help requests received from reliable
sources i.e. newspapers, visual media, recognized govt. bodies, etc.
New members join SANTHWANAM on hearing about its activities through his friends
or colleagues. In other words, SANTHWANAM
is the most excellent example of how friendship can be fruitful to the society. This is underlined by the increase in
members from 9 to 900 in a span of
five years.
The executive committee consists of 19 members, 6 of
them are office bearers.
The committee is headed by the President.
Moreover, there is an advisory body consisting of five people.
The powers of the executive members are similar to that of an ordinary member. So the purpose of such a body is to
carry out the activities of SANTHWANAM in its fullest sense.
Monthly executive committee meetings are usually held on the 1st Thursday
of each month. The total monthly contribution
is evenly divided and distributed among the deserving diseased individuals after
careful analysis by the executive committee.
All other matters of interest to SANTHWANAM are also discussed in detail during
the executive committee meetings and appropriate decisions are taken.
These decisions are then passed on to the members by the executive members.
The annual activities of SANTHWANAM are evaluated at the General Body meeting which
is usually held by mid of January each year.
It is usually attended by all the members.
New executive committee is elected at the General Body meeting.
Usually members who take keen interest on the activities of SANTHWANAM are
elected to work as executive members.
Dignitaries from different walks of life attend the General Body meeting and give
lectures and guidelines to the new committee on their activities for the coming
year.
As a part of the General Body meeting an annual magazine called 'Smaranika' is published
and distributed to all the members together with detailed financial report. ‘Smaranika’ reveals complete activities
of SANTHWANAM of the previous year.
Well known cultural and political figures, back home at Kerala, send their felicitations
and blessings to the members through 'Smaranika'.
